 As most people drive past Hope Abbey daily without even knowing, there is really a lot more than just a cemetry right there. But in reality Hope Abbey has been apart of galesburg for quite a long time now. It still relates to galesburg to this day because of the constant work that has been put into it. WHile the Hope Abbey may not have the most signifigant or important people in it, it still holds a lot of meaning to it. Wells fargo who is the owner of Hope Abbey was highly thought of due to the “No structure ever built in this city stands on a firmer foundation.” The Register Mail (Sept. 18,2017). But this was more one of the stronger building structures that was built in 1909. The reasoning it was built was to keep it from groundspace being taken up. This would abvously lead to Galesburg honoring more war vetrans and a lot more signifigant people to the town. But Galesburg is a town of traditions and a very traditional little town. Thats why the Hope abbey has so much to realate to just because of the signifigance it showed towards galesburg. Hope Abbey was built to give the cmetery more groudspace and to honor the real heros. So I belive that it was more of a turning point for Galesburg and showed the town that they are looking forward to shwoing that love and appreciation for the town.
